Lung Bulla
Expert surgical treatment for lung bullae using advanced VATS resection techniques
About Lung Bulla
Lung bulla refers to sub pleural air-filled giant bulla - a lesion that occupies more than one-third of the volume of the hemithorax. Pneumothorax, infection in the bulla, and hemoptysis can occur as complications of lung bulla. VATS resection of lung bulla provides effective treatment for symptomatic patients and those at risk of complications.
VATS Resection
Minimally invasive surgical approach
Symptom Relief
Effective treatment for dyspnea
Complication Prevention
Reduces risk of pneumothorax
Lung Preservation
Maximizes healthy lung tissue
Indications for VATS Resection
Asymptomatic Large Bullae
Isolated bullae >30% to 50% of lung volume with/without evidence of progressive enlargement. Underlying lung relatively non-emphysematous and compressed.
Symptomatic Patients
Symptomatic (dyspneic) patients, with other causes of dyspnea excluded. Underlying lung relatively non-emphysematous and compressed.
Complications
Complications of bulla have occurred which are major, persistent, or recurrent including pneumothorax, infection, or hemoptysis.
